Terms of Use

The ground rules for using my sites, tools, and the things I make.

Last updated: August 4, 2026

These terms apply to everything I, Timonwa Akintokun, make and run — timonwa.com and its subdomains, my blog, newsletters, shop, free and paid resources, the tools and apps I build, and my open-source and demo projects. By using any of it, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. Using My Work

Different things I make come with different rules. Where a specific project or product states its own license or terms (in its repository, product page, or description), those apply. Where it doesn't, these defaults do:

My content

My writing, articles, videos, talks, slides, and other content are mine (or used with permission) and protected by copyright. You're welcome to read, share, and link to it. Please don't republish or repackage it as your own without asking first. I sometimes republish my own articles on platforms like dev.to, Medium, and Hashnode.

Open-source code

My open-source projects — including the tools, demo projects, and code starters — are released under the MIT license unless a repository or product says otherwise. Under MIT you're free to use, modify, and build on the code, including commercially, as long as you keep the license and copyright notice. If a project uses a different license, that will be stated in its codebase or description, and it takes priority over this default.

Digital products and free resources

My templates, prompts, custom GPTs, ebooks, and similar resources — whether free or paid — are licensed to you for your own personal and non-commercial use. You may not resell, redistribute, or share them, even the free ones, unless the product clearly says you can. Free doesn't mean it's yours to sell.

2. Purchases and Support

I sell digital products through Buy Me a Coffee and Selar, and accept support through the same platforms. My shop simply lists products and links out to them; all payments happen on those platforms, under their terms and refund policies, not mine.

  • Digital products are non-refundable.
  • I don't sell physical goods.
  • I'm not responsible for issues with payments handled by those platforms.

3. Newsletters

When you subscribe to a newsletter, you agree to receive occasional emails from me. You can unsubscribe any time using the link in every email. If you use one of my apps or demos that needs an account, your email may be added to my mailing list, and you can unsubscribe the same way. My newsletters run on Listmonk, which I self-host, and are delivered through Amazon SES. My online journal, Signed, T, runs on Substack. Each is subject to its provider's terms.

4. Comments

My blog uses Giscus for comments, which signs you in with your GitHub account and posts your comment as a public GitHub Discussion — so it's also subject to GitHub's terms. Please keep it respectful and follow my Code of Conduct. I may edit or remove comments that don't.

5. Tools, Apps, and Demo Projects

I offer free tools at tools.timonwa.com, along with demo and side projects you can explore. By using them, you agree that:

  • They're provided free and "as is," without warranty. AI-generated output can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable — always review and edit it before you use or publish it, and don't treat it as professional advice.
  • You're responsible for what you put in, and you need the right to use any text or link you submit. Don't use the tools for anything illegal, harmful, deceptive, or infringing.
  • The hosted tools run on a shared free allowance and are rate-limited. Please don't abuse, automate, scrape, or try to get around the limits, which can change at any time.
  • The tools are copy-only — they draft content for you to copy and use yourself. They don't post or publish anything on your behalf.
  • If you add your own Google (Gemini) key, you're responsible for it and any costs it incurs, under Google's terms.
  • Demo and side projects are for learning and exploring, may need an account to work, and may change or disappear at any time.

6. Affiliate Links and Sponsorships

Some of my content includes affiliate links or sponsored mentions. Here's the deal:

  • I may earn a commission if you buy through an affiliate link, at no extra cost to you.
  • Sponsored content is always clearly marked.
  • I only recommend things I genuinely rate, but I can't guarantee third-party products or services, and your purchase is subject to their terms.

7. Freelance Services

I take on freelance software development and technical and content writing. Any project, consultation, or service is handled under a separate agreement we work out individually. Portfolio and case-study work is shown for reference and doesn't guarantee similar results for future projects.

8. Disclaimer and Liability

My sites, tools, and content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. I do my best to keep things accurate and working, but I can't promise they'll always be correct, complete, current, or uninterrupted — and content (including anything generated by AI) may contain errors.

To the extent the law allows, I'm not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of — or inability to use — my sites, tools, or content, including anything you create with them. Some places don't allow certain limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.

9. External Links

My sites link to other websites and services I don't control. I'm not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or terms, and a link isn't an endorsement. Use them at your own discretion.

10. Changes

I may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use my sites means you accept the current version.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, and any disputes fall under the jurisdiction of its courts. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away any mandatory rights or protections you have under the laws of your own country.
